Coca Noso, Cyclic Re-en-generations (fix media, 8 channel_26″ _ 2023)

We retain the regeneration of history. History changes; over time it is shaped and censored. History is interpreted and may lose itself in linearity. History is always sounding; whether we hear it or not.  The sono-space is under the influence of history. A new organization emerges in linearity. It is maybe a story telling of a little history under the influence of a larger history.

“Coca Noso” is the story of the five Co-Creations in the Margins that Siavash has been busy creating and writing about since last year as part of Siavash’s research for his Thesis in MA Electroacoustic Composition at ZHdK (Zurich University of the Arts). This process was carried out in 5 different setups with 11 Artists (see Sonosynthesis_Noise#1-5). In total, Siavash worked for 20 days with artists through various improvisation moments, and all the material of  from the final performances were recorded. He then deconstructed the recordings and influenced them through different technical and aesthetic decisions, ultimately combining the different moments of collaboration together. The story Siavash tells through this work is one that has been transformed, compressed, and decomposed; yet it remains recognizable.

Siavash’s recent works have mostly involved collaborations. However, this particular piece goes beyond just being a collaboration. As a composer, Siavash has been actively searching for ways to create a more equal platform, where hierarchies on the stage and in sonic productions can be reduced and reshaped. This work is not solely an individual composition; rather, it represents a collective effort, created in moments that center around a BIPoC community. Through this collective creation, Siavash was able to experiment with the material and incorporate it into this composition.

“The piece will be performed by Siavash on September 8th 2023 at ZHdK on a 16.1 loudspeaker system. Additionally, in January 2024, the piece, along with another Co-Created piece in the context of Sonosynthesis_Noise, will be pressed and released on LP.
